le 30 septembre

FSF 2D - Today we did a fun listening activity en français about animal noises to get warmed up. Then, we read some mixed up events and placed them in a timeline en français. We recognized the words and phrases depuis, ça faisait, il y a   _____    / il y avais  _______ ans. Students thought critically to deduce which events happened first, which happened for a while, and which were debateable and why. Tomorrow we will listen to a paragraph and place events on a timeline. The rest of class was dedicated to our Conte de fée work where students will complete or summarize un conte de fée en français for a speaking mark. BE SURE TO GO TO ELEARNING and email MME to vote for your choice of rating scale for your evaluation.   =)

FSF 1D - Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow and be sure to hand in your arbre généalogique!!

FSF 3U  / 4U   - We started class by looking at a chart of different animaux, and identified how they were all related to one another (poule, poussin or chein, chienne, chiot). We then listened to an activity without any visual clues to identify what info (about the world of work) was being shared, by whom, why, and what type of tv program it could be. Students completed a quick assessment to see if they could identify the grande idée de l'émission. Words we became familiar with; au globale, également, par contre, faire attention, faire face, mal à l'aise et malaise. We are wrapping up our World of Work unit and will be completing our dramatization (get your interview skills honed and prepare to elaborate en français =) ) VENDREDI!!!

We summarized Boucles d'or with passé composé et imparfait, and students began working on their own summaries / conclusions on les contes de fees for a speaking mark.

FSF 3U / FSF 4U - We did a fun activity on animal sounds to see how French sounds are said differently in English. We also self-assessed on certain skills used in the workforce (backside of vocab activity). Questions for our dramatization on VENDREDI are up on d2l / elearning.

FSF 2D - Aujourd'hui, nous avons identifié des phrases au futur, présent, et au passé. We talked about what we hear to verify the time that the actions are happening. We created a list of key words that help. We discussed and analysed the song from vendredi (great work on your shared ideas on your exit cards), and we scanned an article about Cyclone Pam à Vanuatu for the important information to answer qui, que (qu'est-ce que), où, quand, pourquoi, comment et combien de . We then watched the video, did a class Venn to describe imparfait et passé compose of actions we saw and heard described. Students are doing an excellent job applying what they have learned. Be sure to complete the Imparfait sheet (up to and including if you want the Boucles d'or activity).

Also, click here to play a reinforcement game
Here is where you can click on whether you think it is passé composé ou l'imparfait

In a friendly competition, we completed an activity matching up things one used to do. Click here to see the activity.   We took up homework and also starting working on descriptions of the past and what the differences are. HOW ACCRO are you? We saw an example of our French phrases presentation today as well. Students did a great job listening to a dialogue in French and figuring out what the term 'accro' means. They will present one of their own this semester. Click the links to see photos to remind you.   Don't forget those helpful words that will remind / give context to completed actions!
accro de portables - you know who you are - tu sais qui tu es!!! - ☺   ACCRO!!!!!!!!!

FSF 1D - Today, we had our homework checked. Most were completed the sheet and can identify people to their personality traits. Our goal was to read some explanations of family members and to create a good gift list for those family members based on what we read. Students first completed a speaking activity describing people, we watched a video and distinguished which likes and dislikes belonged to Dana, as well as which adjectives described her and her ideal friend.  Video link here: Bonjour, je m'appelle Dana.  Today, students met their goal by creating thoughtful lists. They are prepared now to create a Family tree that will describe what people like to do, are, and have.

Practice here - can you complete the sentences with imparfait?   Click on VERIFIER LES REPONSES to check how you did!!
Song tomorrow for sure. =)

FSF 1D - Students today conducted surveys en français asking what others have / are. We are applying what we know about adjectives and using AVOIR and ETRE in preparation for our new concepts. Students spoke French by asking questions and learning how to respond (affirmatively and negatively). We are talking about strategies that help us understand the context of sentences as well in case we aren't confident about what every single word means (when we talked about our self-assessment quiz yesterday). We are speaking more and more and I appreciate your participation. Students also had an activity to complete about adjectives - listing who they knew that conveyed that description words and whether they are like that or not. Je suis aventureuse / Je ne suis pas aventureux.

Here are some links of games to help;

Les adjectifs - Rags to Riches - read the instructions carefully. Do you recognize what these adjectives mean en français?

Bonjour encore!

FSF 2D-   We are moving ahead with our experiences au passé! Students can now describe actions that happened from personal events and describe using c'était with an adjective. They can listening and identify responses from other students as well. We read intros from recognizable stories using c'était et il y avait and identified the titles of these stories based on what we read. We completed an intro activity on l'imparfait (was happening). Students are listening and paraphrasing well en français and I appreciate your enthusiasm and participation with our activity. I am glad no one was shocked too much by our GRANDE interruption!  =) We watched and discussed a video qui était à propos du Vietnam, aussi.  Tomorrow, une chanson!!!

FSF 1D - We completed our speaking activities. Students completed a self-assessment on AVOIR and ETRE based on our blog homework from the weekend. Be sure to always check the blog and be thorough when Mme suggests!!! We listened to a dialogue that was an interview and put the phrases we heard in order. We started identifying words that describe people by sharing ideas with camarades and we also had draws for our first billets / bonbons!!!

FSF 3U / 4U - We started les annonces, we watched and learned and completed an activity on le Cambodge and compared it to notre monde du travail and we analysed a tableau avec les emplois le plus payants. We also took a look at les publicités pour les travailleurs à Québec. Tomorrow we will start our last bit of review, and piece it all together to prepare ourselves for our monde du travail dramatization!

Good start to the week, tout le monde!

le 18 septembre - bon weekend!

FSF 2D - We completed our first listening activity for marks (choix multiple, open questions, et un peu de metacognition!). Well done et félicitations in completing your first task for marks! Be sure you read your pink sheet that was given out jeudi. ☺

FSF 1D - We had our first day in the lab and know what the expectations are when we have lab days. Students completed their speaking tasks with me one-on-one well, and listened to a dialogue between two classmates and answered questions in various forms. Helpful hint: always be sure to read Mme's helpful hints and to read instructions carefully! It is a successful work habit!

Here are two activities that will help us for our task on Monday:

FSF 2D - We analysed qui  était le plus difficile à comprendre from our last listening activity. We also tried a second activity found here and students really can piece together spoken French well, in different dialects with different speech paces. We played a board game to enhance pronunciation, confidence and application of completed actions. Next up, students will have a listening activity tomorrow for marks and will find out what type of fun French colloquialism they will be presenting to the class!

FSF 1D - Speaking tasks took place today, where we applied good techniques to apply to every task for marks. Students were encouraged to prepare ahead of time, make notes on the page and all spoke with confidence. Mission accomplished! Pronunciation has improved, and students are speaking!! We took a style of learning quiz and worked in our review booklet while we waited our turns to speak. Students who didn't complete the speaking task will tomorrow. There is also a listening activity for marks tomorrow! It is a comprehension activity where students will listen to a conversation and answer questions.

We identified jobs we heard, about what he was singing and how he felt about le monde du travail. We also recognized the difference of Je suis étudiant / Je suis un bon étudiant.  (notice how un is taken away.  Some questions we discussed en français dans nos journaux were;1. Quand on cherche un emplois, qu'est-ce qu'on veut trouver?
2. Dans n'importe quel boulot, quelles connaissances sont les plus importantes?
3. Quels types de travails existeront à l'avenir?

le 16 septembre

FSF 2D - Today, we talked about one thing that we did in the past and our goal to improve our life today. Ex. Hier, j'ai mange des croustilles, et aujourd'hui, je ne mange que des légumes.  Students were encouraged to find ways to improve something in their life and use an expression like ne... que instead of seulement to expand our vocab.  We did a listening activity (our first à première écoute) and students were strong in persevering and putting pieces of phrases together to figure out the general idea of the story (and even more). We discussed the names of punctuation in French too.

FSF 1D - We completed our review cercle de camarades, had photos taken throughout the class, and rehearsed for our listening and speaking tasks. Tomorrow is our first speaking task for marks!
Please complete the online activities from this week if you haven't already and here is one for today.
Can you identify when we use HAVE / HAS and when we will say BE / AM / ARE?

FSF 3U / FSF 4U - We are entering into our first unit about jobs, work, our futures, how our experiences will help us create the future we want and developing a CV (resume). We added more to our journals and talked about 'family words' in French (cuisine, cuisinier, cuisiniére), identifying parts of speech. Great work. We completed a quick listening activity online as well!
