FSF 1P and FSF 3U speaking exams

Once you have recorded your work, you must SAVE YOUR WORK.

Here is how you can do that.

Click on File --> Save Project As, then click ok to enter
Enter YOUR NAME as the filename.
At the top where it says SAVE IN: , scroll down until you see Desktop
Click on the HandIn (I:) folder.
Click on the Bell folder.
Click on the A1 FSF 1P SPEAKING EXAM folder.
(For FSF 3U save in FSF 3U EXAMEN ORAL folder please.)
Then in bottom right hand corner press SAVE.

DOUBLE CHECK with Mme Bell to make sure your work has been properly saved. Please raise your hands if you have any questions.

You will be presenting your speaking task today. Follow the directions carefully so that you can record your presentation properly.

1. To open the recording program, click on Start.

3. Open Audacity.
4. Be sure your microphone and earphones are plugged into the computer correctly.

LIBRARY TIME - THURSDAY

Today you will be doing Work Value Inventory Quizzes to discover what is important to you in terms of your occupation. You will also read and compare two stories of two characters' personal choices.

You will be asked to provide me with a small paragraph via email explaining which character you believe is happier in his / her field and why--- THIS IS FOR MARKS (5 for clarity, 5 for reasoning and proof). It can be as long as you need it to be, but no longer than half a page typed please. SEND THIS TO ME BEFORE MIDNIGHT TONIGHT.

I hope you're all enjoying your break. I have been away from my laptop for a few days, which was nice, and I apologize for the delay.
Since it's Friday, I'm only expecting you to read the journal entries I listed on Friday (all the journal entries from Cecile on p56-60 ). Be sure you are well aware of the content (look up words that may be challenging on wordreference.com, and attempt to summarize the events and information you've read as well,you could also complete the comprehension questions on p.60 for practice).
When you arrive back on Monday, you will have an individual in-class reading assignment that will be due at the end of the period. It will be based on these readings.
Please mention this to classmates that were absent. They will be expected to complete the task as well.

Careers Lab #4 Thursday March 11

Here is your work for today! You will be earning a certificate today!!

You will receive a worksheet with an info sheet about work safety.

Read the worksheet and follow all instructions carefully. Take notes as you will be tested in order to receive your certificate.

When you have completed the tests, print out your certificate and show Mrs. Bell. Be sure to show your rough work as well. THIS IS WORTH 50 MARKS. COMPLETE IT TODAY!


Use the rest of your class time to work on your safety poster.
The site www.glogster.com is a great way to make a poster without doing any hand cutting and pasting.

REMEMBER, the poster is due Monday March 23.

Week of Feb 22 - 26

lundi - we will be reading a Venn Diagram and complete an exercise for marks. By now, we should be able to identify two verbs in a sentence, and know how to make a sentence to describe what activities/verbs people prefer, love or like to do.

mardi - we will be playing conjugation bingo using the forms of aimer, adorer, and préferer. After, we will complete 8 sentences using our verb sheet to describe what activitieswe like, love and prefer;

mercredi - we will become familiar with adjectives and the rules that apply to adjectives (what endings each adjective needs whether it describes a masculine or feminine, singular or plural noun. We will compare our 8 sentences to another students and create our own Venn diagram.

jeudi - we will create our own Venn diagram discussing what we and our families like to do, and will begin working on our good copy Venn Diagram that is for marks. Please bring in any pencil crayons, construction paper or useful items to make your project creative and neat.

vendredi - BRING IN YOUR READING MATERIAL FOR USSR. You will be working on your Venn diagrams in order to complete them for Monday.

mercredi - You will complete pages 28 and 29 of your cahier in order to prepare for your reading quiz. You will be assigned your first major project. It will be due Friday March 5. Please read p.46 and 47 for a clear idea of the project expectations, as well as the exemplar. YOU WILL HAVE LIBRARY TIME FRIDAY and MONDAY only. Be sure to use some weekend time to complete this task.

jeudi - We will discover quantity expressions, and will being Le Grand Voyage.

vendredi - Library time for project research. You will also be in the Library Monday, but that will be all of the time you have available.

Monday - We will discover different colours and what personality traits they represent. We will be creating a list of jobs for those personality types.

Tuesday - meeting with Mrs. Daly about course selection.

Wednesday - Work trends. You will be working in partners to answer questions about trends to be aware of when thinking about career choices. Also you will be answering questions about cases in chart form. Please be sure these are ready for Thursday.

Thursday - Lab time. We will be exploring Career Cruising.

GLC 2O Lab Time - Day 1
1. Please start at
www.grimsbyeagles.com. Click on the Guidance Department link at right.
2. Choose Career Crusing, and then enter your username and password.
3. At the top of the page, please click on the Assessments box in purple/blue.
4. Click on Career Matchmaker. It will ask you to enter your username and password once again in order to access your portfolio. You must agree to the licencing conditions and proper use of the software first.
5. You will answer the questions very thoughtfully in order to receive a list that suggests jobs that may be of the highest interest to you, according to your responses. You are required to answer Part I and Part II of the questions - BE SURE TO SAVE YOUR RESULTS.
6. Complete the attached activities that explore a few of your given career choices and keep them safely in your notes. You can also save job descriptions and profiles to your portfolio for future reference. This is highly suggested - you will have a project that will require descriptions of a career choice.
7. When you have completed the Matchmaker portion, please click on the Careers portion. Choose the Search by Cluster option. Please take time to explore the jobs available by cluster (you can also choose the educational path that leads to those jobs in order to minimize the occupation list). Once you have selected a job description, you can use the options on the left of the screen to discover working conditions, earnings, education, related careers, and in addition, you have access to photos, interviews and day-to-day details of the job.
8. Please choose one job that is extremely interesting to you as a career choice. Save it to your portfolio. Record on the last sheet of this package the following;
- the reasons why you admire this job
- how this career choice reflects your personal values, as well as your work values
- your likes and dislikes about this job
- any further questions you have that are not answered in the information given to you.

mardi - We will be doing a listening activity (p.52 of cahier), we will discover how to say what we like (using the verb aimer), and we will do p.10 and p.12 of the cahier.

mercredi - We will be practising how to use two verbs in a sentence (using aimer and preferer). We will complete p. 13 and 14 of the cahier. We will have an activity on how to put sentences into the negative form, and we will start working on our first task for marks!

--- Your tasks for marks will be a small written assignment, as well as an oral presentation that you will have an option of presenting in a few ways.

Wednesday - Understanding what is important to be aware of when thinking about your career choices. We will also start working on the What I Have Accomplished forms for Guidance.

Thursday -- lab time ? Work Values Inventory --- What is important to you when you think about your work life and your ideal lifestyle?

LIBRARY TIME - THURSDAY

Today in the library, you will be doing Work Value Inventory Quizzes to discover what is important to you in terms of your occupation. You will also read and compare two stories of two characters' personal choices.

You will be asked to provide me with a small paragraph via email explaining which character you believe is happier in his / her field and why--- THIS IS FOR MARKS (5 for clarity, 5 for reasoning and proof). It can be as long as you need it to be, but no longer than half a page typed please. SEND THIS TO ME BEFORE MIDNIGHT TONIGHT.

Use your time wisely in order to complete all of the tasks, and have fun discovering more about yourself!!

GLC 2o - Hello to all you Careers students!
Monday - There are 8 learning styles or "different types of intelligences". Quiz and compare, and think of good study hints for those who want to improve their weaker (or less preferred) intelligences.
Tuesday - BE SURE to hand in your DREAM BOARD! I'm looking forward to seeing them! Role playing different personalities (Type A, B, etc) and family dynamics --- recognize their affect on how we are as people.
Wednesday - Read about Scott Adams (creator of Dilbert). What do you think of this youtube video about this occupation?
You will complete a journal entry for marks, that you will hand in at the end of class. You will have the rest of class to study.
Thursday - QUIZ #1. Know the terms and people we have discussed and be able to identify, explain and apply their meanings to situations.
The Pursuit of Happyness film - be sure to answer questions for it along the way.
Friday - Continue the Pursuit of Happyness. Answer questions and have them ready to hand in on Monday! ( if film is not finished, we will finish Monday and you will have some time to complete the unanswered film questions).
