Bonjour!

Il fait beau aujourd'hui!!! I hope you are all having a nice day so far.
Today, you have one task to prepare for our lesson on Tuesday, and then you have a choice!

1. The teacher will give you a sheet with three different critiques on it. You will find and identify two things: THE FORMS OF AVOIR (you may need to refer to notes to remember those, or look around the room for prompts) and action words that end with 'é'. Highlight them in any way to show me that you can identify the forms of 'avoir' (in one colour) and the action words that end with 'é' (another colour).

2. Once all students have that completed, you have a choice of film. Voting will take place with head's down, and by raising your hand to show which you prefer.

3. If you have yet to complete the work from yesterday *and JB - please ask a friend to inform you of what's been happening in class - you may ask to go to the library to get caught up (there are extra sheets for you in the folder for the supply), you must complete that before the end of the period and hand it in.

Merci! Je vous souhaite un bon weekend!!!!!

A mardi!!!

Bonjour!

1. Today your teacher will give you the answers to the activity that we completed in class yesterday.
Please take 30 minutes or so (if you need more, that's okay, just discuss with your teacher please) to correct and be sure you understand why you had to make any corrections if you needed to. Cross-reference with un ami, and assess how well you did if it helps!  If you finish, please review and add to what you wrote down about each presentation. Prepare to explain en français and answer a few questions about your réactions to some of the stories that took place! A good strategy: ask yourself - can I explain this en francais for a minute and give details en français?  What can I do to practice? Rehearse in my head, practice with a friend, write down a few more thoughts...?

2. Then, I have some videos to watch about Les expressions françaises et les expressions belges. Remember we are going to present some expressions soon!

Here is a game you can play as a class : Enjoy! Te t'enjailles???!!   ☺

et

3. Please take home a copy of the at-home activity and bring it back completed Tuesday (the teacher has it). We have already talked all about it and I know you are now ready! Be sure to access D2L for some additional help if you need it! Bonne chance!
Passez un très bon weekend!!!

FSF 1P
___________
Bonjour!

Today you will be heading à la bibliothèque with your professeur.  At the end of the period you will hand in two things, stapled, with your names on them.

1. Your rough work outlining what you will be describing about your band or sport team. Earlier we saw an example of a timeline (that is still on D2L). Please follow that exemplar and have at least 10 major/significant events that helped create, change, improve or impede on the success of the group you are describing. You can even talk about specific members of the group and it can be in English for now. Elaborate and add as much important information as you can today.

Here are three examples;

1. The Pittsburg Penguins formed in 1967.

2. The mascot's name is Iceburgh (true spelling) and he became the mascot in _____________.

3. Sidney Crosby was born in 1987. He started playing hockey when he was ___________ years old. He is famous because ______________.

When you have handed in this work, you may watch the fun videos about la musique et les parodies selected for you on D2L that we will discuss tomorrow. Miss Minard may have to unlock some of these sites in order for you to watch them.

Please remember that watching videos and being in the computer lab is a privilege. If you are abusing the privilege you will be asked to work on additional activities the supply teacher has at a table in the library.

The seminar rooms are also booked. If some of you would prefer to work in a quieter setting and can access information (and complete today's task well) you may work in the library seminar rooms.

I will see you tomorrow and hope you have a very nice day! Enjoy the beautiful weather! Il fait très beau aujourd'hui!

les instructions pour le 15 mai

FSF 1P
_______________________________

Bonjour!

I hope you had a great weekend!
Question #1: Do you know remember what to do in case of a fire drill or a lock down when in this room? Take 2-5 minutes to discuss!

Question #2: If you had to read critiques about restaurants or other amenities and decipher whether you were reading good recommendations or bad, would you be able to?

Click here to access some critiques.  You have about 15 minutes to complete the exit card describing what you read and what you gathered from that reading. You can also access additional critique sites on D2L. It is up to the teacher whether you can use your phones for this activity. This is an assessment of your capabilities so far!

By the end of this week, you will be writing your own critique! Please begin thinking about what place you will be critiquing for a written mark on Thursday. There is a place to collect useful words and ideas on your exit card.

Please hand in your exit cards before leaving today.

Question #3: Self assessment for what you'll be learning next. Can you read and understand the main ideas in our timeline exemplar? There are sheets with the teacher that you can read with a partner. Use your infinitives sheet from the beginning of the semester to help with some vocabulary. Remember, these are all events that happened. What written similarities do you see when described actions occur?

Question #4 : Do you have your brainstorming complete for your Major Final Demonstration? If not, you have the rest of class to write down your ideas.

Hope you have a nice day, et à demain! Bonne journée!

Question #2: Are you ready to correct your EN work? Please access D2L (or ask a friend to access to post on the SMARTboard the responses) to see the EN activity answers still yet to correct.

Les vidéos:
Please enjoy this video about some additional expressions, and please be sure to add them to your expressions list: after our presentations, you will be completing your work to provide us with your expression knowledge!

Then, you may use the class to prepare for presentations. Please have a copy of your script to give to Mme tomorrow, be sure to have proof read and to have provided your very best work (adding all the components we have learned in class up to this point - remember you have more time than expected so don't hesitate to go above and beyond!)

les instructions pour le 11 mai

FSF 1P
 Bonjour tout le monde!

Voici vos instructions pour aujourd'hui. There are three options, and it is important that you try to complete them all!

1. You will be suggesting, recommending and directing me to a place in the community tomorrow. You may have time to practice by reading and listening to different scenarios on cards the teacher has.

2. You have an outline for the final demonstration (the teacher has extra copies). You can write down in English ten major events in the lifespan of your band/sport group/book genre  that you would like to demonstrate in English. You may use your phones appropriately to research. If you want to continue and write down adjectives that describe the songs and people in the band, please do!

3. You have time to complete the music listening activity, describing each song and giving the song a number of stars. We will be talking about these songs tomorrow!

Please use your time wisely. I am asking the teacher to provide me with detailed notes on how you did and if there were any distractions or students needing redirecting (comments from the teacher that are unsatisfactory will affect your participation in our activities arranged for tomorrow). Do your best today!

Bonne journée et à demain!

Bonjour classes!!!

Here are your instructions for today.

FSF 1P - Bonjour!

We will complete the film Louis Cyr today, and will begin our new unit on our city and it's amenities. You will see a great exemplar of a city to the right of the SMART board. When the movie has been completed, you will CHOOSE ONE PARTNER wisely to work with and will begin creating a fictional or non fictional road map of a town or city. You will tape pieces of paper together (use tape in the red box where the scissors are or go down to Mrs. H in the office for some masking tape) and start your blueprints.

You will include at least ten different buildings that you would see in a city. We will be learning the French vocab for these words next week. This road map will be the setting of the film you will be making so be sure you use your time wisely and make it look its very best!!!   It will be due on Wednesday and those who will require more time to finish will be staying at lunch on Wednesday and Thursday.

Bon weekend!!

FEF 1D - Bonjour!!!

Nous avons lu chapitre 3 - Le Bouillon hier.  Please complete the activity handed out Wednesday (chapitre 3 et 4 questions) and the teacher has some extras if you need some! We will be watching a film next week and we will be talking about how we best critique films so please be sure to spend quality time thinking about the important events of chapter 3 (think of about 6-7 to include) for question #2. We will be summarizing more in the next two weeks, so this is an activity to prepare you!

Please take 10-15 minutes to have the MOST  in-depth conversation possible en français (about your weekend, or wherever your words take you!).

Puis, you have 2 readings and questions to prepare for tomorrow. They are all about publicité et les stéréotypes. Be sure to use your vocabulary sheets and the word banks to better understand the readings.
Click here to see the article online and PLEASE WATCH THE PUBLICITÉ that caused all the commotion - they choose to show sous-titrés / subtitles because ORANGE is trying to convey that they are able to understand any Québecois dialect that they come across in their store!

*****Due to technical difficulties this morning, you have no handouts. My apologies!! Désolée!  I put the word bank, reading and questions on elearning for the link above. Please access them as best you can and discuss the questions. Please have at least the newspaper article read amd ready to discuss tomorrow! And I JUST MET YOUR PEN PALS! I have une surprise pour vous demain!

At the end if you wish, you can spend the last 15 minutes of class on your language log (you start recording your exposure to French this week!). I have created a list of ideas for you to be dedicating your time to this week;

- Duolingo
Study stack - choose what you would like to practice vocal-wise
- a goal: be able to name 10 new products from your washroom or your fridge by the end of the week
- watch a hockey match or a tv show en français
- NRG is a great French radio station you can stream - google it and you can choose what region of France you'd like to imagine being in while streaming online!
- les proverbes en français - read and try to figure out what they mean

Bonne journée et à demain!

ET... Last but not least...
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our forum. I will be printing them out tomorrow!!

Your goal today is to describe at least five people. Show their relationships to one another in a format that you saw yesterday (with lines between and down from other members)

Click here to see some exemplars (scroll down for the best exemplar - la Famille Simpson)

#3. Please place your work in your binder and then you may watch the film. Please remember that you have an activity to complete about the film also! If you finish the film, please work on that activity.
Have a nice weekend!

FEF 1D -
Bonjour!     Voici les instructions pour aujourd'hui.

#1.  You have a choice to voice your opinion with your teacher, and please vote (I suggest by raising your hand with your eyes closed / head down)

You have a journal to write that was meant to be started for half the period and then you can enjoy the film.

Please vote on whether you would like to complete and hand in your journals today (all journals must be handed in at the end of the period)   OR if you would like to work on the journals for half the period and then watch the film.

Whatever you choose, please enjoy the day, and be sure to demonstrate your best work (and work ethic) and don't be afraid to take risks in your writing. Be sure to read through your marking scheme to see what you will be marked on. Challenge yourself to use different verbs, irregular verbs and new words (and adjectives).

#2. If you choose to complete your journals at home, please make sure that you hand them in on Monday.

FOR YOUR JOURNALS;

      You will write about le passé en répondant aux questions suivantes (all of some of them);

*Quelles accomplissements est-ce que tu (et les membres de ta famille) as fait dont  (of which) tu es le plus fier / fière?

*Où est-ce que tu as visité? As-tu aimé tes voyages? Avec qui est-ce que tu es allé (e) à ces destinations?

* Décrivez une chose que tu as fait qui est inoubliable.

BE SURE YOU HAVE WRITTEN AT LEAST 20 SENTENCES, and apply (using your notes) your knowledge of all the different forms of passé composé. Soyez créatifs!!

Bonne journée et bon weekend!

FSF 3U / 4U -

Bonjour!

Please take approximately 10 minutes to study very quietly. If in this time you are looking for something else to do other than study, please be sure you have prepared your envelope ( there are some on left side near the exemplar) or access learning silently on your phones to read the posts that you haven't yet read. Please read over your letters and remember the feedback I gave you (some have feedback on a sticky; avoid errors we talked about on your quiz today).

Once you have received your quiz, be sure to read through it very thoroughly before starting. Notice that there are 10 verbs conjugations to match and there are more options so be sure to read through each one carefully.   I have tried to make things as straight forward as possible for you, so please

After handing in your quiz, take the rest of the time to read through posts on learning (even pull them up on the whiteboard if you'd like).  THIS WEEKEND, I would like you to post two new threads and comment on two posts (and don't be afraid to post more... it's good practice and it will be part of your portfolio!) In total by Monday, I would like to see at least THREE THREAD POSTS and THREE REPLIES by each of you! Tell me your thoughts and try to incorporate our new vocab!

Please hand in your letters (and place them in their appropriate envelopes - in the green basket on my desk- if you are ready - if they are not ready, please have them ready for Monday!)

Je vous souhaite une bon weekend!!

-Mme

le deuxième post pour le 22 février

Bonjour tout le monde!

I just would like to let all students and supporters know that I am directing everyone to our elearning site more regularly than the blog this semester for the time being. Students will be able to use many tools that I will post there for reinforcement of concepts and for reference. This blog will be updated weekly (or more often during the week if needed to post due dates) and as we settle into the semester, I will post daily once again in the future.

Merci!!

FSF 1P - Instructions for today

Bonjour! Today you will be watching Les Choristes!

1. Let's begin with some rebus puzzles! Click here to access them!
Scroll down and try to answer 4 (after the box photo rebus puzzle if you want a starting point - there are so many!)

2. Please take 5 - 10 minutes to read through the Vrai / Faux   questions on the back to understand what you are listening and reading for while you enjoy the film. We have already discussed what you are to do with the chart on the front, and please read instructions at the top if you need a reminder.

3. Before watching the film, be sure to remember that watching a film is a privilege. If you appreciate and enjoy this movie (and avoid distractions during the movie), there will be more in your future in this class. Please act appropriately.

4. You will watch the film with English subtitles. Enjoy et à remain!

FEF 1D - We have been reviewing the passé composé. There will be many links to help on elearning, as well as an easy visual organizer of the rules we have been applying and practicing in many different ways. Remember that our first journals are done in class on Friday, and our good copies of our egoportraits are due Thursday.

FSF 3U / 4U - Please check elearning for your quiz outline that will be on Friday. Also, you will find more on our publicité unit and soon, our language lab ideas.

jeudi le 9 février

FSF 1P - Today, students learned how to describe what they like and don't like. We played SIMON DIT to see what actions we already know and we have been asking others what they like to do as well. We wrote some sentences down about our likes and dislikes and compared them with others in a Venn diagram. Here is the video - Qu'est-ce que tu veux faire?

FEF 1D - Today, students started with the easiest Kahoot they will play all year. They were very successful! We completed their Quelle heure est-il activité and now have 12 different speaking partners for the semester. We read and completed expressions about love and attempted to make inferences and give examples to them. We listened to Jenifer's Je dance and tried our first listening activity. Tomorrow we will talk about la musique encore et we will do a simple writing activity for marks at the end of class.   voici le vidéo de Jenifer - Je danse

We asked one another to be speaking partners for our 'horlages', we deciphered a chorus of a song, we began a discussion about love and talked about one of our final activities for marks this semester : presenting a proverbe.
Students were given a sheet about their personalité for review. They are to pick the top three traits and then explain two of them to Mme for marks tomorrow.
Ex.

Here is your marking scheme  pour ta première note de communication orale:     ( / 15 notes)

FSF 1P - Today we are completing our diagnostic assessment. We are also going to complete some activities to be sure that we can greet and ask basic questions well for our FIRST SPEAKING TASK ON FRIDAY! We also listening ed ZAZ ☺

FEF 1D - Today, we are going to continue getting into the habit of speaking in French with others. We are a quiet class and we will be speaking to better reinforce and rehearse what we are learning (because  we will use French in the real world mostly by speaking!). Students are describing things that are happening in their life, describing a story, and producing info en français by using the present tense. They are also compiling a number of different ways that they can expose themselves to more French and thinking about their 'language log' and how they will use it.
They will be creating their own personal goals and sharing them with Mme and as a class we will create our classroom BUTS (goals). First in class writing task for marks is on FRIDAY!

Here are some links to help with the present tense review we are doing in class.

Click here for a note - an excellent and thorough note   There is a cute video to show it's application as well!

FSF 3U FSF 4U - Today, students will be playing 'menteur' games by recounting things that have happened in their past and, using the Harkness method (which they will use for their final spoken demonstration / speaking exam) to speak with others in the class. Friday will be their first evaluation - a speaking one!
