FSF 1D et FSF 3U / 4U - You have lab days today and instructions are on elearning.

FSF 2D - I hope your preparations for your big writing task are coming along nicely. Remember that the supply has some answer sheets for you to complete, and that there are lots of useful tools on elearning as well as recents posts here on your blog.

Today is to be your preparation day for your big writing task that you will complete in the lab tomorrow.

You will be writing a letter that will describe things that happened in the past. You will be expected to add a few pronouns as well. The letter can follow the same formats as the ones you have read in class (think back to the beginning of the semester) and there is another example at the front of the class for you.

 You can write about whatever you would like, and if you would like inspiration, or a place 'to have visited and to write from', here are some links that I wanted to discuss with you this week;

http://www1.tfo.org/education/Episode/55904/les-pays-le-laos

http://www.tfo.org/fr/univers/cinq/100315609/les-pays-le-cambodge

The username and password to watch these is by the computer keyboard.

You can also use your Vietnam knowledge if you'd like. Including info from a place will not be a requirement on your task.

Please be prepared to (without notes) write about at least 7 actions in the past, be able to describe them, use pronouns and adjectives and comparisons. If I were you, I would write out a rough copy practice today and have a friend peer edit.

Hope you are having a good week!

Bonjour!

FSF 2D - Students today were involved in elections. We listened to French titles of well known movies and guessed them, and we watched some clips from TFO about Les expressions quebecoises  (capote pas, tire-toi une buche). We also watched a publicite that was une parodie of a european telecommunications provider and tried to recognize the linguistic differences between the speakers. We also tried to look at the big picture and look for visual cues to infer what the purpose of this parodie was. Here is a link to our publicite du jour.

There are some new concepts that we will venture into next week. Here are a few things to look at to prepare yourself;

Have you seen this before? Try this quiz. Reflechissez: J'ai mon stylo, et je le donne a mon ami parce qu'il n'avait pas un stylo.

Here is an example of how these pronoms LE LA et LES are used, with another self corrcecting activity

Here is a video tutorial

We will talk more lundi!   Enjoy your weekend!

FSF 1D - Great digital interactivity today!! We played some kahoots and then enjoyed a video en francais. Students will be writing a letter similar to one we have read in class for a written mark on Monday. From the activities today, they should have a great idea of their level of preparation for this task. They are encouraged to scroll back through the previous posts to visit the links provided for practice, and here are some more to help. The students have practiced writing in class, and their speaking task preparation was a good indicator that they are quite ready to write their first big paragraph in class.

Can you complete this paragraph?
Can you match the correct statements and places to the photos provided? (au, chez, = to)

Here is another self correcting activity

Here is a big challenge; Click here to challenge yourself with some less familar vocab   Use what you know already to see what rules may apply to these real thought provoking questions

FSF 3U / 4U - Very nice work on your written resumes/ CVs on Thursday and for your participation vendredi avec moitie / moitie.  Please review the following sites and watch the videos on D2L for Monday's class as part of review and rehearsal for your listening task and writing task for marks.

Do you remember the conditionnel? J'aurais une grande maison si j'avais $1 000 000? Here is a link with aides if you need refreshers

Here is a slideshow about le conditionnel if you need it

Play jeopardy and see how you do!

Can you propose your suggestions orally to these situations using le conditionnel?

Can you follow along with cette chanson et choisis les paroles correctes?

Bon weekend

Bonjour tout le monde!
Good work today! Students received their reports today.

FSF 2D - Today, students rehearsed for their speaking task that will happen tomorrow. They will be comparing commercials and explaining things that they saw happen. They will be encouraged to describe things in the past, so a review of notes and practice on elearning tonight is suggested!!

FSF 1D - Students received reports today. They completed their quick dessin of an Alamo D'Etre, we checked our crosswords to see if we were on the right track, and we completed a quiz for assessment (assessed on the spot by Mme) for students to see if they need to practice. If so, scroll for previous posts for practice, s'il te plait!!! Students started working on their simple sweet renditions of fairy tales and lullabies and will complete them and say them tomorrow for a mark. They will have a listening activity for marks on Friday.

FSF 3U / 4U - Curriculum Vitae day !! Students wrote and completed a CV pour Mme today for a written mark, and posed as a candidate pour un employ of their choix. Well done and with lots of explanations!

Bonjour classes!

Hope everyone had a good long weekend! On Thursday last week, we were in the lab and our work can be found on elearning.

FSF 2D- Today, we talked about ways to be respectful and show good active listening, by learning some expressions. We also changed our seating plan, watched some publicités, and talked about their purposes, how effective they were and what was good about them. Students will be sharing opinions for marks on Thursday October 15.

FSF 1D-  Today, we answered questions to describe what we did or didn't do this past weekend, we played dix but with MRS DR VANDERTRAMP verbs to develop our knowledge of describing the past. We started working on our quick Alamo d'Etres to demonstrate that we know what those actions look like when written in the past. We are gearing up for our first written activity.  Students are encouraged to play the games and do the activities online on D2L for practice. There are some here.
THERE IS A SELF ASSESSED QUIZ the first twenty minutes of class tomorrow.  ☺

Can you match these phrases to the photos?

Click on the link below to play a helpful game.

FSF 3U / 4U - Students prepared for their writing task tomorrow (a resume and questionnaire) by completing a sequencing activity using concepts taught to describe the past and chronologically explain the first actions (plus - que - parfait, imparfait, passé compose). We completed a listening activity with it and watched an episode of Raphael. You can find it here;

FSF 2D - We have been so busy in class!!!! We talked about languages, and the cultural and identity changes in French speaking islands. We saw and heard how some French speaking countries' 'autochtones' are speaking their langue maternelle less and less. As part of being able to compare en français, we discovered more about Seychelles, Saint Pierre et Miquelon, Guyane et Wallis et Futuna by reading les faits à propos de ces pays. Our next few weeks will be about different French speaking places and we will be comparing, talking about things we will and would do, and learning more about the different parts of the French speaking world.
Here is one video we watched.
Wallis et Futuna - Là où je dors - Gregory

FSF 1D -  Today was Canadian Cognitive Skills test. Great work!

FSF 3U / 4U - Nous avons discuté du niqab, et nous avons practiqué le plus-que-parfait. We are starting to see and hear how it can be used in a story.
Please visit the elearning site and complete what is on there for practice!

FSF 2D - Today students practiced, group assessed for feedback, and then presented their renditions of fairy tales! They were fantastic. As a listening component, students were to identify 3 events from three different stories they heard and plot them on a timeline. Nicely done!!!

FSF 1D - Some students read the blog and answered my question correctly! We continued our discovery of Madagascar by debriefing about Friday, by watching another video and analyzing its purpose, and by answering Vrai ou Faux to the questions based on the video (students now know what animals exist, as well as a bit more about how Madagascar looks). These questions described things that were done in the video. We are reviewing / learning passé composé. We partnered up, found actions that happened on our question sheet, identified differences and similarities, and then filled out a 'minute note' on passé composé to use as a reference. Students then told me what they did over the weekend by pointing to parfois / souvent, rarement, toujours or jamais on their chalkboards, and created some sentences on their own in passé composé. ON WEDNESDAY, we will have a little quiz at the end of class to make sure we can describe common activities in the past.

Voici le vidéo que nous avons vu.

Click here to practice by playing a game... J'ai vu will help!! ☺ There are a few challenges as well!

FSF 3U / 4U - We wrapped up some speaking evaluations where 'interview' like questions were conducted. We also (all on elearning) checked out the plus-que-parfait, and had a "Bilan de mes competences" worksheet to be our first portfolio task for written marks.

FSF 2D - We did a self assessment with this activity; Click here to see the activity and try it yourself for a reassessment!  Students are becoming more familiar with understanding the context and the full purpose of something they read in order to deduce whether something happened often in the past or happened only once. They can create settings for stories now and will be presenting their conte de fée summary or conclusion LUNDI! They can access how they will be evaluated on elearning, as well as the criteria.

FSF 1D - Today was a lab day. We discovered Madagascar and a few of its inhabitants, en français!
Click here to access all of what we saw, read, and heard.
Students completed a chart demonstrating what information they gathered about the characters, where they live, what they like to do and their country. We also accessed a spreadsheet to see classmates likes and dislikes by placing our names under the appropriate column for each question posed on français. Students said they often, always, rarely or never do those activities.  (parfois, toujours, rarement et jamais). They also had a few games to try as introductions to our new concept; describing things in the past.  They were reminded to check the blog everyday and especially today because...

This slideshow is for homework - please read through

This link is a video I would like you to watch - enjoy!!!

I will be asking you what you did on the weekend, and one thing I would like you to say was "J'ai vu le blog et j'ai lu le slideshow!!!"

FSF 3U / 4U - Dramatisations aujourd'hui!!!! Speaking marks were earned today!
Excellent speaking today!!! French for almost the ENTIRE CLASS!!!
